Hardly any other investment <strong>symbolizes security<\/strong>, <strong>stability<\/strong> and the <strong>realization of personal dreams<\/strong> as much as a <strong>home of one&#8217;s own<\/strong>. Often, the path to <strong>owning a home<\/strong> involves <strong>hardships<\/strong>, <strong>challenges and personal risk<\/strong>, so it&#8217;s no surprise that home ownership is one of the <strong>most emotional topics for<\/strong> Germans. <\/p>\n<p>The advantages of owning one&#8217;s own <strong>property<\/strong> have always been clear, especially for <strong>medium-sized businesses<\/strong>. The <strong>condominium<\/strong> or <strong>one&#8217;s own house<\/strong> is considered the owner&#8217;s <strong>most important provision for<\/strong> old age. Finally not having to pay <strong>rent<\/strong> or <strong>pay off<\/strong> a <strong>loan<\/strong> to have more of your own retirement. This was and is the declared goal of entire generations. <strong>Financial stability<\/strong> and <strong>independence<\/strong> are considered the most important arguments in the <b>decision to invest<\/b> in their own property.<\/p>\n<p>But <b>fear<\/b> is running rampant among property owners. It sets <strong>binding targets and measures for<\/strong> member states to reduce <strong>energy consumption<\/strong> in various sectors, especially buildings. In practice, the Directive provides for the enforcement of certain requirements and standards for <strong>energy efficiency in buildings<\/strong> and requires that Member States adopt appropriate <strong>national laws and regulations<\/strong> to achieve these goals. The targets set, which aim to achieve a <b>55% reduction in<\/b> greenhouse gases by 2030, come with significant <b>implications for property owners<\/b> across Europe.  <\/p>\n<p>This directive and all amendments based on it are specifically aimed at reducing the <strong>energy consumption of buildings<\/strong> and promoting the <strong>supposed transition<\/strong> to <strong>more environmentally friendly<\/strong> and <strong>sustainable<\/strong> <strong>energy systems<\/strong>. However, this is not in itself a <strong>legitimization<\/strong> to have<strong> forced renovations<\/strong> carried out. <\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless,<strong> the implementation of the directive<\/strong> is accompanied by new <strong>laws and requirements<\/strong> that will make investments <strong>in new technologies and construction measures<\/strong> inevitable.
