According to a survey by the market research institute You Gov, financial and insurance brokers see a growing importance of competent support in legal matters. According to the survey, almost one third of the brokers surveyed received legal advice from a law firm last year.
Increasing liability risk and stricter regulation of insurance sales require qualified legal assistance, the study found. According to the survey, 31 percent of German brokerage offices have used professional support from lawyers in the past two years in legal matters or legal disputes. Within the framework of the broker sales barometer, You Gov Deutschland AG asked 277 brokers nationwide in December 2011 about their experiences with legal advice.
The most well-known law firm is therefore the Hamburg law firm Michaelis. According to the survey, every tenth brokerage firm concerned chose this firm to receive advice. This makes it the most frequently chosen by brokers in Germany, according to You Gov.
Six per cent of those seeking legal assistance resorted to the Bremen law firm Blanke, Meier, Evers. A further six percent of those surveyed had worked for the Verband Deutscher Versicherungs-Makler e.V. (VDVM) for support.
You Gov also asked the brokers about the quality of the law firms. The majority of respondents praised the high reliability of lawyers and law firms (57 percent) and a high level of expertise in all relevant legal issues (57 percent). In addition, the great expertise, especially for financial and insurance brokers, was positively perceived by the majority of those surveyed (56 percent). The authors of the study conclude that these are the most important criteria for selecting legal advice.
According to the survey, the law firm Michaelis as well as Blanke, Meier and Evers in particular are characterized by a high degree of reliability and great expertise especially for finance and insurance brokers. VDVM therefore stands for a high level of professional competence in all relevant legal issues in addition to its expertise.
Law firm Lehnert achieved 4th place in the usage ranking of the last two years and lawyer Dr. Johannes Fiala came in 5th (four percent each).
