From a German point of view it is surprising that every baker or butcher in Switzerland is allowed to call himself a “Wirtschaftsprüfer” (WP) or to found a Treuhand-AG. The professional title “Wirtschaftsprüfer” is not protected in Switzerland.

Anyone who now wants to know whether a confirmation comes from a “genuine” auditor can easily find this out on the Internet, because the names are listed at https://www.treuhandkammer.ch.

If it is not a WP who is a member there, then any attestations and confirmations are obviously worthless according to the professional code of conduct of the Chamber of Trustees. A conversation with lawyers in Switzerland reveals that it unfortunately happens all too often that “fake” auditors make “declarations of convenience” – a circumstance that can also have criminal repercussions in Switzerland.
